Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Guwahati and Transfer to Shillong.

  • Upon arrival at Guwahati Airport or Railway Station, you will meet our representative and begin your journey to Shillong.
  • Along the way, take a moment to visit Umiam Lake, a picturesque spot surrounded by the lush Khasi hills, located at the gateway to Shillong.
  • Upon reaching Shillong, check in to your hotel.
  • If time allows, explore the vibrant local markets of Shillong in the evening for some shopping.
  • Return to your hotel for an overnight stay in Shillong.

Day 02Explore Mawphlang.

  • Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel in Shillong. Prepare yourself for an adventure as you travel to Mawphlang village, situated 30 km southwest of Shillong.
  • Upon arrival, set off on a hike through the East Khasi Hills, exploring the revered Mawphlang Sacred Grove.
  • Learn about the fascinating legends associated with this ancient forest and discover rare medicinal plants along the way.
  • After your exploration, return to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 03Mawryngkhang Bamboo Trek.

  • After breakfast, get ready for an exhilarating day as you set out for the famous bamboo trail of Meghalaya, located 50 km south of Shillong.
  • Travel to Wahkhen, a charming village in the East Khasi hills and the starting point of the trek. Embark on the trek through the breathtaking landscapes, crossing bamboo bridges and wooden ladders while hearing the story of U Mawryngkhang, the “King of Rocks.”
  • As you reach the trek’s pinnacle, you’ll be rewarded with stunning views of a towering rock surrounded by a lush forest and river valley.
  • After a 4 – 5 hour hike, return to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 04Laitlum. Krang Suri. Drive to Shnongpdeng.

  • Begin your day early with breakfast at the hotel, and then set off for Shnongpdeng.
  • On the way, enjoy a detour to the awe-inspiring Laitlum Canyon, featured in the movie “Rock On 2,” offering a breathtaking panorama of rolling green hills and deep gorges beneath a dramatic sky.
  • Continue your journey to Jowai and visit the stunning Krang Suri Falls, where you can admire the cascading waters or relax by the blue pool below.
  • By evening, you’ll arrive in Shnongpdeng.
  • Check in to the Riverside Camps or Homestay for an overnight stay.

Day 05Drive to Cherrapunjee via Mawlynnong.

  • After breakfast, enjoy some water activities on the serene Umngot River.
  • Later, head towards Cherrapunjee, a jewel of Meghalaya.
  • On the way, visit Mawlynnong, acclaimed as the cleanest village in Asia.
  • Wander through the village to learn about the local way of life.
  • Arrive in Cherrapunjee by evening and check in to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 06Trek to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge.

  • Fuel up with breakfast and gear up for a day of adventure.
  • Travel to Tyrna village, where you’ll begin your trek to the renowned Double Decker Living Root Bridges, guided by a local expert.
  • Traverse through the forest and cross multiple bridges to reach this incredible natural wonder.
  • Spend time exploring and marvelling at the unique bridge formation.
  • Afterward, prepare for the climb back up approximately 3,000 steps to return to Tyrna village.
  • Transfer back to Cherrapunjee for an overnight stay.

Day 07Wei Sawdong Falls Trek. Drive to Shillong.

  • After breakfast, start your journey back to Shillong.
  • Before departing Cherrapunjee, visit the Nohkalikai Falls viewpoint and hear the poignant tale of Ka Likai, the woman who gave her name to these falls.
  • Next, enjoy a short hike to Wei Sawdong Waterfalls, located 14 km from Nohkalikai Falls.
  • Descend through the lush greenery to witness the breathtaking three-tiered Wei Sawdong Falls.
  • After taking in the views, embark on a two-hour drive to Shillong for an overnight stay.

Day 08Departure from Shillong to Guwahati.

  • Enjoy your last breakfast in Shillong before departing for Guwahati.
  • En route, stop once more at the scenic Umiam Lake.
  • Continue your drive to Guwahati, where your tour concludes.
  • You will be dropped off at the Guwahati Airport or Railway Station for your onward journey (Please ensure your flight is scheduled after 2-3 pm).
  • Farewell, Meghalaya, as you leave with cherished memories of your adventure.

Payment Policy

More than 40 days for the trip – 25% of the total trip cost

40 – 30 Days for the trip – 35% of the total trip cost

20 -15 days for the trip – 40% of the total trip cost

Cancellation policy

30 Days for the trip – We don’t charge you anything except your booking amount. Booking amount is non-refundable.

30 – 15 Days for the trip – If you’re canceling the trip and opting for a refund within this period then 50% of the total trip cost will be charged as a cancellation fee and remaining sum would be refunded.

15 – 07 Days for the trip – If you’re canceling the trip and opting for a refund within this period then 75% of the total trip cost will be charged as a cancellation fee and remaining sum would be refunded.

Less than 07 Days for the trip – If you’re canceling the trip and opting for a refund within this period then 100% of the total trip cost will be charged as a cancellation fee.

  • You are not applicable for a refund if you fail to show up on the day of departure under the given timeline that has been provided to you beforehand.
  •  If a trip is called off at the last moment due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh, etc.) then the participants would be provided with a voucher for the same amount that can be used within 365 days of the issuance date for any package worth the same amount.
  • If a trip has to be aborted midway due to a natural calamity/unforeseen circumstances (like rain, snowfall, earthquake, landslides, strike, bandh, etc.), in that case, no refund would be provided. Travassa Holidays will not bear any extra expense due to such circumstances.
